NSW Settlement Strategy
The NSW Settlement Strategy is the first of its kind in the state. It brings together existing and new NSW Government initiatives to improve settlement outcomes for people from refugee and refugee-like backgrounds living in NSW.

Discovery
After a year of research and development, the Settlement team at Multicultural NSW had a beautiful piece of policy ready to go out into the world.
I was tasked with giving the NSW Settlement Strategy life beyond the 100 page Word document of text and tables.
There was a lot of love poured into building the Strategy including the four theoretical families dreamed up for the Settlement Domain case studies.
Development
The Settlement Strategy team understood from the start that this document would not work with photo imagery. It would feel disingenuous to feature faces that had not been touched by a policy that had yet to launch.
I suggested illustrations would work best for the document and would personally conceptualise and render the theoretical case study families - giving them the same love the team gave in creating them.
Delivery
The Strategy took 6 months to produce and launch as we waited for amends and approvals from multiple stakeholders.
The Strategy was launched to coincide with Refugee week which culminated in a week long event of storytelling and panels.
One of the earliest milestones in the project was to reveal the theoretical families I had visually concepted. The concepts were met with enthusiastic praise and wonder for bringing the Settlement team's families to life.
A summary document was developed to accompany the Strategy which was translated into 17 languages:
Arabic
Assyrian
Burmese
Dari
Hakha-Chin
Hazaragi
Karen
Kurdish-Kurmanji/Sorani
Nepali
Pashto
Persian
Russian
Swahili
Tamil
Tibetan
Ukrainian
I received Employee Of The Month for my work on the Strategy, and to this day is my most cherished project.
