Visual Identity Refresh
Discovery
The Premier's Harmony Dinner is the flagship event of the year for Multicultural NSW.
With a 10 year event history and guest list of 1500 attendees, it's the largest dinner event hosted by the NSW Government for the community.
I was brought on board to refresh the visual identity of the agency's most high-profile event after the existing identity ran it's third year.
Stakeholders also felt that this refresh could start the conversation of creating consistency between the multiple event and program identities run by Multicultural NSW.
Diving into the Dinner's rich history, I discovered the archives of the event's identity of which I was able to draw story and inspiration.
Development
The project was originally marked for a rebrand but after the first round of concept delivery it was quickly pivoted into a refresh. Stakeholders felt the existing 'Glittering Gala' theme fit the elevated feel of the night.
This presented me with a new challenge as a refresh needs to feel reminiscent of the existing brand, but strong and distinct enough to stand on it's own and feel new.
I pulled together all the elements of Multicultural NSW's graphic devices, leaned on the NSW Government Masterbrand, then drew tone from images of the night.
Having attended the 2023 Dinner, I was also able to channel into the creative my own experience and feelings of walking into the Grand Ballroom at the ICC.
My first round of concepts didn't hit the mark - however that was a project management challenge as the stakeholder expectations and brief weren't in alignment. I re-navigated the project and brought forward a fresh set of concepts closer to the stakeholder vision.
I was faced with another set of challenges as the Events Team changed halfway through the project.

The Premier's Harmony Dinner is the longest running project I have worked on in my career.
It was also the first year the Dinner moved the program into a digital space which proved to be a brilliant move that saved the agency thousands of dollars on print costs. It also sped up the timeline by a week.
All the incredible work from the project team culminated in a resounding success as the Dinner launched with positive impressions from stakeholders and the community.
The Events team and myself received Team-Of-The-Month for our success.
